With the view to strengthening the application of renewables, especially the solar energy, that can open many possibilities to countries like Croatia, a one-day seminar covering the topics of application of thermal solar systems will be held. Scientists, university and insititute experts and representatives of respective governmental bodies will give a theoretical basis application possibilities. Designes and equipment manufacturer representatives will present practical examples of projects carried out. A short discussion is foreseen for the end of the Seminar.

The Seminar takes place in conformity with the Rulebook on State Examination and Upgrading and Improving Knowledge of Persons Involved in Building Activities (Official Gazette 24/2008, 141/2009).
FORUM ON GAS

The first Forum on Gas was held in Stubičke Toplice in 2002 and attended by 238 participants. Next year the venue moved to Varaždinske Toplice that hosted the further five forums on gas.
The Forum on Gas addresses the following specialized areas:
- gas systems and gas economy
- laws, regulations and standards in the field of gas and gas profession
- gas installation design and execution
- gas installation testing and accident prevention
- new technologies of gas equipment and fittings
- chimney-sweeping trade (Forum on Gas is the first expert gathering in Croatia dealing thematically with and systematically promoting the chimney-sweeping trade)
- liquefied petroleum gas and technical gases
- education and professional improvement in gas engineering
- Forum: giving answers to previously put questions and a brief discussion
The recent, 8th Forum on Gas held in 2009 gathered 300 participants: experts form power and gas companies, project engineers, contractors, fitters and maintenance technicians for gas equipment, installation and fittings, manufacturer representatives and equipment and dealers in gas equipment and fittings, officials form government and inspection bodies and chimney sweeps from Croatia and neighbouring countries.

The first Croatian Seminar on Pressure Equipment was held in Zagreb in 2004 and attracted immediately great attention of technical circles.
The preliminary programme of the next seminar includes the following topics:
- new laws, regulations and standards including necessary technical specifications in the field of stationary and mobile pressure equipment;
- obligations and authorities of participants in the process of manufacturing, marketing and use of pressure equipment;
- an overview of activities carried out by competent government bodies;
- new structure and competences of government, examination and control authorities in Croatia;
- control of pressure equipment on the market and in use;
- experiences of other countries.
At the 7th Seminar on Pressure Equipment all the participants will be provided new and topical information relating to this important area.
The recent 6th Croatian Seminar on Pressure Equipment held in 2009 gathered 250 experts from designing, engineering, consulting and contracting companies dealing with pressure equipment and plants and experts and scientists from university and scientific institutions, government and inspection bodies, manufacturers and dealers of pressure equipment, or everybody in contact with pressure equipment on daily basis (gas, oil and other pipelines, gas tanks and cylinders, etc).

The first international scientific symposium entitled “Power and Process Plants” took place in Dubrovnik in 1994, as the first expert meeting held in this town after the ravages of war that it suffered in 1991. Nevertheless, the first symposium already met with an excellent response of professional circles and in the course of the years the number of participants kept growing. Since 2004 the programme has been supplemented by the International Forum on Renewable Energy Sources taking place as a rule on the last Symposium day.
The usual topics of the Symposium and the Forum respectively are as follows:
- energy economy, legislation, topical issues in power sector
- power and process plants, environmental protection
- testing, monitoring, rehabilitation and upgrading plants
- management, operation, maintenance, fuels and lubricants
- energy management, energy efficiency
- importance and role of renewable energy sources
- executed projects and possibilities of using renewable energy sources
The previous 8th International Scientific Symposium “Power and Energy Sources” and the 3rd International Forum on Renewable Energy Sources held in 2008 gathered 350 participants: experts and scientists in the field of power industry and energy economy, gas technology, renewable energy sources and environmental protection; representatives of higher-education and testing institutions, professional associations and government bodies, as well as the manufacturers of power equipment, plants and devices and engineering, designing and consultancy firms from Croatia and the world.
